Loch Fyne

Who are they

Loch Fyne, Shrewsbury, is a branch of a national chain of seafood restaurants which prides itself on serving high quality sustainable fish and seafood - much of which still comes from Loch Fyne itself. Plenty of places throw around the 'sustainable' label, but this restaurant demonstrates a genuine commitment to protecting the resource that allows the business to prosper. They started out as a small shack selling what they caught, and now boast more than forty restaurants throughout the UK. Ours, is located on Market Street, just around the corner from the famous Old Market Hall. The restaurant's dining space is light and airy, with big floor to ceiling windows on two sides. Tables, chairs, floor and ceiling beams are all light brown wood and give the interior a very modern and stylish look.

Recognising that not everybody wants to eat during strict hours during lunch or in the evening, Loch Fyne is open seven days a week from 9am all the way through until 11pm, making it a great place to visit whenever the opportunity arises, or the mood takes you.

What do they offer

Diners can choose from the standard à la carte menu, or from a set lunch menu, both of which are comprehensive, favouring fish eaters as you would expect, but making it perfectly possible for vegetarians and carnivores alike to join their friends and family for a memorable meal. As well as being works of art in their own right, their menus are seasonal, so please visit this page of their website for the latest versions.

Why do we like them

There aren't many seafood restaurants and there are even less doing seafood as well as this company. Everything from the restaurant interior and branding, to the staff, to the quality and presentation of the food itself, shouts quality. Restaurant chains often fail to deliver anything more than a faceless brand, but Loch Fyne is different. The restaurant and its staff clearly care about and believe in what they are offering, which makes for a great dining experience. eatShrewsbury has no problem in recommending you eat here.

There are plenty of cafes to choose from in Shrewsbury, and as coffee fanatics we should have tried more than one during our short stay. However, we enjoyed our lunch in Arthur's so much on the first day that we returned for another on the second.
The coffee and mocha are superb, and the food delicious. Pity we live 180 miles away!
