The New Inn Baschurch

Who are they

The New Inn at Baschurch has a long history of serving great food alongside their extensive range of ales.

What do they offer

Everything from nibbles and snacks through to mains like Rump of Shropshire lamb with pea and mint puree. Lots of choice and some good specials.

Why do we like them

Despite the departure of award winning chef, Marcus Bean, who sold the pub in 2013 to concentrate on his new cookery school, we are happy to hear reports that the food at the New Inn is still getting the thumbs up. This is a nice little inn, serving a nice little community. If you are in the area, be sure to call in, and then come back here to let us know what you think about the food!

Quality home cooked food and real ales

Really warm welcome on a bright and sunny Bank Holiday lunch time. We sat in the paved area outside which was surprisingly quiet (they’re usually closed on a Monday and maybe regulars thought they would be today). Sunshine so bright we should have brought a sun hat. Not like Britain at all. Generous portion of freshly cooked chicken in the Caesar salad (slightly heavy with the rich dressing for my taste). Crispy batter on the fish and chips which were served good and hot. The welcome was probably the stand out thing. But we’ll be back for more.

We've eaten at the New Inn on several occasions and every time we visit it gets better. The service is always very good! I must admit sometimes it can be a little slow but we don't mind as we know everything Is made fresh, from the bread to the ice cream. It's nice to go to
A pub and get great food, sourced locally, and seasonal. They do the best scotch eggs I've ever tasted with lovely yolks, and a great pint of beer. The wife also tells me the wine is very good.
So we highly recommend The New Inn.

If you want a really excellent meal, cooked with fresh, local ingredients, you'll have to go a long way to find anywhere better than The New Inn. Fish nights are fantastic, so don't miss them if you get the chance. But really, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It changes with the seasons too, so there is always something new to try. I really can't really recommend it highly enough. The beer is great too!

Thanks to all at the New inn for making a special birthday really special. All 12 of us agreed it was a fab night out from start to finish, great wine list, beautifully prepared food and very pleasant staff. When a member of our party thought he'd "lost" his wallet, they went out of their way to help. Wallet found and the bill wasn't as expensive as we thought. Well done everyone.

The food was good (especially the desserts) and the outside area was a pleasant place to sit. The service was also much better.

Great pub and restaurant near the town centre. They have themed food nights. At the moment Thursdays are fish day. Check before booking though as this may change.
