Theatre Restaurant

You don't even have to leave the theatre to find food. If you are looking for a matinée lunch or an evening meal, you don't have to wander far from your seat to find it.

The restaurant at Theatre Severn is open to anyone, not just theatre goers. Located on the top floor with lovely views of the church spires across the river in Shrewsbury, they have a simple menu and a good range of specials which show that they are using seasonal ingredients. Prices are very reasonable and the food has received quite a few thumbs up. Well worth considering if you aren't in the mood to wander away from the theatre.

Theatre Severn Food

Theatre Severn is a striking building by the town's Welsh Bridge, in the Frankwell borough of Shrewsbury. If you are visiting the town to watch a performance at the theatre, you may wish to know where to get a bite to eat, either before you take your seat, or once the show is over.

Reviews and location
Great location day or night, the Pour House used to be more of a place for drinks, but now boasts food in the shape of Thai-D - thai themed food to eat in or take away. Relaxed atmosphere and is very popular with locals. Definitely a good spot for some pre-theatre food.

This sandwich shop, is just across the road from the theatre. If you are attending a matinée and want a bite to eat before you take your seat, or before you head home, you'll be pushed to find better sandwiches. The owners are passionate about local and ethically sourced food, and Ian makes the best cakes you'll ever eat.

Mandarin  chinese food

This long standing Chinese takeaway is a two minute walk from the theatre. Do not be put off by the dated decor, the menu offers a good selection of Cantonese style Chinese food and the staff are very welcoming and helpful.

The Armoury  pub food

Reviews and location
This bar restaurant is very popular place to be and to be seen, rumoured to be the hangout for the royal princes while they were doing their helicopter training at nearby Shawbury. The old armoury building was moved brick by brick from its original location to the river side. Serves great traditional English food and some local beers. Lovely interior and good value.

More of a stride..

Peach Tree  sandwiches

Reviews and location
If you are willing to walk a mile or so from the theatre then you could work up a nice appetite on the way to The Peach Tree resturant, in the shadow of Shrewsbury Abbey. This well respected local restaurant offers traditional and European food, and the special offers make it great value. From a recent review, "From start to finish the evening was superb and we were looked after as if we had been going there for years, but it was our first time visiting Shrewsbury in quite a while. A great atmosphere and service with a genuine smile is definitely the order of the day - well done!"

Coach and Horses  pub food

Reviews and location
Great pub and restaurant near the town centre with a head chef who appeared on Master Chef, The Professionals. From a recent review, "Slow cooked belly pork with dauphinoise potatoes, caramelized shallots and a puy lentil jus - which was outstanding - far betetr than your usual 'pub food' but that may be because the Coach and Horses is a pub with a resturant in it really - you can just go there for drinks in the bar areas or dine in the resturant area which as a wonderful 'Shrewsbury' feel - candles on the tables the night we ate there, exposed brick walls, wooden beams - wonderful atmosphere."

Loch Fyne  seafood restaurant
Contact: 01743 277140
Reviews and location
Loch Fyne is a national chain, but it does not act like one. A vibrant atmosphere and staff that genuinely care whether you are enjoying yourself. The interior is very light and airy and the tables and general atmosphere make you feel like you are sitting in someone's kitchen rather than in a fish restaurant. Make sure you look at the specials board.
