Avatar

Nepalese and Indian fine dining restaurant. Himalayan Momo Dumplings, followed by Gurkha Lamb anyone? This place is winning some loyal customers!

Excellent quality food, particularly from their "Innovative Dishes" menu, beautifully presented and served by a knowledgeable and most amiable staff. Not another dull Indian restaurant with the same old dishes, but a cut above. A little more expensive, perhaps, but more than worth it. It's predecessor, the Indian Village, is not comparable on any level. Avatar deserves plaudits for upgrading the quality and presentation of the many old style Asian restaurants that still abound in the town.
If you're fed up with the same old curries that you have been eating since you were a teenager then give it a try.

Wow! I thought nothing could top Panacea in Shrewsbury, but this place is fantastic. The food is beautifully presented, and unusual. It makes such a change from a normal Indian restaurant. I had chargrilled guinea fowl breast with a masala sauce, and MASHED POTATO! And it was superb. But the absolute highlight was gulab jamun for dessert. At long last, somewhere in Shrewsbury that serves them.
Service was very good, the staff were beautifully dressed, friendly and efficient, especially considering the place was heaving.

I wouldn't normally take the time to write reviews but Avatar has earned it! Some friends and I just had a really great meal, the service was excellent with a very hospitable and friendly owner but the food was easily it's equal!! Our dishes were fresh and full of flavour with a great variety on the menu. With many dishes I still want to try, there will certainly be return visits!! It's a firm recommendation from me!!

Went here with 3 friends 8 days after it opened (Oct 2014). 1 vegetarian, 3 meat eaters. Presentation, quality, service and pricing were excellent for each order (including starters). I would certainly recommend Avatar. Avatar is entirely different from the Indian Village that was here previously. The new ownership and Nepalese cuisine have made a superb new beginning and all 4 of us will certainly be returning.
