My husband and I came to Shrewsbury for a couple of days, to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We were fortunate enough to make a reservation to eat here.
The food was superb, it was beautifully presented and every mouthful was a delight. We had the tasting menu with the matching wine flight, everything was amazing. The staff were great and explained every dish brilliantly.
The ambience of the restaurant was very relaxed and informal with a brilliant soundtrack.
I would recommend anyone who enjoys excellent food and wine to make a visit to The Walrus ASAP.
We finished our meal with a wonderful Limoncello, for under £200! We have eaten in a number of Michelin starred restaurants and The Walrus truly deserves to be included in their ranks.
Thank you for a lovely evening.

We visited this restaurant just after it opened at the end of September. It has a lovely atmosphere and an open kitchen so you can see the chefs cooking. The service was very attentive and friendly.

The food was excellent and focused on fresh local ingredients. I had a fantastic pork starter followed by cod. My partner had the vegetarian starter which he also enjoyed. Luckily I had room for dessert - the chocolate pave was absolutely delicious. It was all presented beautifully too, showing the quality of the food.

I look forward to returning – it was definitely the best meal out I’ve had for a long time. The Walrus is something special that Shrewsbury’s been missing.

Fantastic new restaurant in town
I was very excited to visit the Walrus Restaurant after hearing about it since Shrewsbury is lacking in fine dining establishments. The restaurant went above and beyond my expectations with absolutely stunning food, an amazing atmosphere and staffed by some wonderful people. The whole experience was a total joy.
